Getting Involved

canteenWe are a welcoming, friendly school community. Parents are valued partners in their children's education and the school enjoys a strong and positive profile within its local community.

P & C Association

The purpose of the P & C Association is to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation. The P & C Association also provides funds for a variety of support equipment and resources.

The P & C meets at 7.00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month in the Library. Membership fees are $2 per person. This is payable at the first meeting you attend.

Parent - Teacher Interviews

During Term 1 all classroom teachers will organise a parent interview. In this time, parents and teachers are able to discuss the educational programs being followed in the classroom as well as the students’ progress. The students may also be involved in their own assessment.

Contacting Teachers

Teachers are very willing to speak to parents but they cannot leave their classes to do so.  If you wish to speak privately to a teacher please contact the school by telephone or by letter to request an interview at a mutually convenient time.

Parent Helpers

Parents assist in the smooth running of our school by helping out on a regular basis with such activities as Reading, Number, Gross Motor for Kindergarten students, sport., excursions, Library, Canteen and fund-raising activities. We welcome your help if circumstances permit.

For OHS reasons all visitors must sign-on and report to the front office. Our volunteer helpers will be then issued with a clip-on badge to wear during their visit and time helping. Our office staff will happily help and direct you.

Assemblies

Each department holds a weekly assembly where messages of general interest are given, class items are performed and the children’s efforts are rewarded with Merit Awards and Certificates. These assembly times are given on the weekly Newsletter. Parents are welcome to attend the assemblies which are usually held on Fridays.

School assemblies are held daily at 12 noon in the outdoor covered learning areas.

Helping at home

Letting your child know that you are interested in what they're learning, and helping them with their homework will benefit their education.
